               In               their               previous               three               games,               leading               up               to               their               November               4               contest               with               Jacksonville,               Detroit               Lions'               wide               receiver               Calvin               Johnson               has               been               inexplicably               absent               in               the               first               two               quarters               of               each,               having               pulled               in               a               total               of               one               reception               during               the               stint.

Hampered               by               soreness               in               his               knee,               speculation               ran               rampant               as               to               whether               he               would               be               available               to               participate               in               a               game               that               could,               ultimately,               be               described               as               a               "must               win."               Sitting               at               3-4,               clawing               their               way               back               from               a               dreadful               1-3               start               to               the               season,               Detroit               would               need               a               healthy               dose               of               "Megatron"               in               order               to               pull               to               .500               and               give               a               slim               bit               of               hope               to               the               remainder.

Wish               granted.
               Johnson               entered               EverBank               Field               for               just               the               second               time               in               his               career.

The               first,               still               as               a               member               of               Georgia               Tech               in               the               2007               Gator               Bowl,               he               had               notched               nine               receptions               for               186               yards               and               two               scores.

Apparently,               those               thoughts               remained               etched               in               his               memory               as               he               delivered               another               big               performance               within               the               confines,               catching               seven               passes               for               129               yards               in               the               Lions'               31-14               victory.
               Arguably               the               best               wide               receiver               in               the               NFL,               Johnson               has               performed               at               a               near-superhuman               level               since               he               arrived.

The               obvious               choice               as               quarterback               Matthew               Stafford's               primary               "go-to               guy,"               the               downward-trending               performance               of               the               Lions'               passing               attack               this               season               had               placed               much               of               the               scrutiny               on               the               duo,               especially               Johnson.

Whatever               the               reason               behind               it,               against               Jacksonville,               it               appeared               they               had               solved               the               issues               and               were               able               to               regain               the               explosive               offense               fans               had               gotten               used               to               seeing.
               Granted,               the               incredible               performance               of               running               backs               Mikel               Leshoure               and               Joique               Bell,               who               ran               for               four               touchdowns               and               143               yards,               kept               the               defense               on               their               heels               and               opened               up               more               opportunities               for               the               passing               game.

It               was               Johnson,               however,               who               stole               the               show               with               another               demonstration               of               why               he               is               considered               the               National               Football               League's               best               receiving               talent.

Johnson               ran               a               receiving               clinic,               boasting               everything               from               leaping               to               diving;               hauling               in               seven               of               the               eight               targeted               passes               Stafford               lofted               his               direction.

Against               an               athlete               of               his               caliber,               there               was               little               the               Jaguars'               defense               could               do               to               contain               him.
               Detroit               is               still,               though               a               long               shot,               in               position               to               snatch               one               of               the               Wild               Card               spots               in               the               postseason.

With               the               potential               of               Stafford               and               Johnson               regaining               their               illustrious               form,               the               odds               are               beginning               to               increase               in               Motown's               favor.
